Pacific Northwest 2010

In June 2010 we had a 1 week vacation in the Pacific Northwest. Starting in Seattle, we stayed with Wendy's Uncle Kip, who was a fantastic host and tour guide, and tells the most interesting stories about his career as a pilot. Then we took the Clipper over to Victoria B.C, Canada. We stayed in a cool B&B, and also the Empress Hotel. Returning to the U.S., we drove up to foggy Mount Rainier and then a few days in Bavarian Leavenworth.

After a stomach churning Clipper ride from downtown Seattle, we arrived in Victoria, British Columbia. We stayed in a very nice B&B, - Abigail's Hotel, and also a night pampered in luxury at the Empress with our window overlooking the harbor. The Empress is famous for its traditional Afternoon High Tea. The area around the harbor and Parliament is the place to be in Victoria.

Butchart Gardens north of Victoria is popular and can be crowded, but its also a paradise for photographers and gardeners.

Kip loaned us his car, and we drove up to foggy Mount Rainier. It was early in the summer, so the snow drifts were high and many areas were closed.

For a few nights we were in the Bavarian tourist town of Leavenworth Washington, staying at a secluded and friendly country B&B.

A big Thank You to Uncle Kip. Now its time to start planning another vacation!
