Here are some sample pictures from Steve and Wendy's trip to Europe in October 2007. We visited Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and England for two weeks! More photos and captions will be added soon.

We began our European tour in Munich Germany, where we stayed 2 nights. My friend Roman, who lives here with his family, gave us a great tour of the city.

From Munich we went to Konstanz Germany on the Autobahn with our trusty rental car 'Opie'. Back in college, Wendy had attended the University here for a semester, and we had fun visiting her favorite hangouts.

Switzerland was beautiful. We stayed in Interlaken, which is convenient for visiting places like Grindelwald with fantastic views of the Eiger and the Jungfrau mountains from its many gondolas and railways. We also stayed in Ascona, a pretty town on Lake Maggiore near the border with Italy.

For the next week we were in Italy. Our route took us from Ascona around Lake Maggiore, down the northern plains of Italy, racing through the amazing tunnels above Genoa and the Mediterranean, down to our quiet, historic villa in the Tuscan hills north of Siena. We toured Siena, the ancient hill town of Montepulciano, toured the classic countryside and towns of Chianti, and enjoyed our stay in the quiet villa.

Next we visited Florence Italy for 3 nights, staying right in the heart of the pedestrian-friendly core. We visited the Duomo, toured the Uffizi Gallery, ate good pizza, and enjoyed the variety of shops and interesting people.

My cousin Jennifer lives in Rome, and she and her husband Giorgio were wonderful tour guides and hosts. We explored St. Peters Basilica, the Treasury Museum, the Pantheon, walked the ancient streets through the heart of the city, and drove along the Appian Way. Our best meal of the trip was home-made by Giorgio and Jennifer!

London England. This was just a one-night stopover on our way back. Despite the cold, windy weather, we had fun touring the city on a double-decker bus.

We flew back home to Minnesota. To avoid storms, we went northward, over the Greenland icecap and the rugged mountains of Baffin Island in Canada.
