RFil Version 4.0 - Access Report Filtering Utility - Screen Shots

Here are some screen shots from "RFil" 4.0, a powerful and FREE utility for filtering Microsoft Access 97 reports.

This is the Basic Filtering Tab, where you can select the report from a picklist, then select up to 6 fields to use in the filter. There are picklist for the fields, expressions, and the values. After these choices are made, you can either 'Preview' the report with the filtering, 'Print' it directly, or just get a 'Count' of the matching records. You can also 'Save' the filter to the Advanced Tab described below. The 'Reset' and 'Reset ALL' buttons on the left will clear the rows you've entered. The 'Use' checkbox lets you selectively apply the criteria rows you want to use.

The Advanced Filter Tab shown below is used to create and save powerful 'query-based' filters. You select a report from the picklist, and in the box below it, the current list of saved filters will appear. For these filters, you can 'Preview' the report with that filter, 'Print' the report directly, 'Edit', 'Delete','Copy', and 'Rename' the filter, and create 'New' filters. You can also 'Count' the results of that filter (without having to open the report.)

There are other advanced options on this tab. On the lower left side, there is a series of buttons. They are for refreshing the list of reports and filters, an option to run the report unfiltered, and a button for viewing the main query behind the report. In the lower middle, the On Filter Double-Click setting lets you decide what should occur when you double-click on a filter.
